In 1992, just after graduating from high school Amanda Bossard started her education in marine biology with Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage,AK. Bossard's professional career started in 1999 with a job at the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65 foot vessel, which was a halibut fishing vessel, was transformed into a salmon tender by Murat Ariatn, who is a commercial fisherman for more than twenty years. Bossard and Aritan are married now and have joined forces to claim their place in their respective industries. The two are proponents of preserving sustainable and renewable marine resources. Otolith was founded by Philadelphia through Bella Bossard, now mom to two boys aged 3 and 1, Bossard. Otolith's name is a loving reference to Bossard's extensive knowledge about fish biology and her husband's vast connections to the seafood business. They are often apart for five months in a row while they pursue objectives in the areas of environmental and financial that show their determination and autonomy wherever they are. Bossard's daughters Isabella, age 12, and son Andre, age 10, return annually each year to Southeast Alaska to work in the deckhand position throughout the salmon wild season. In the course of two months, Bossard and Isabella use hooks & lines to hunt for their target salmon. Aritan will then sell their catch to local processors.
